Overview

Accounting firms using BILL manage financial workflows across dozens—sometimes hundreds—of clients. While execution tools were strong, firms lacked a centralized way to understand performance, identify issues, and make decisions at scale.

I led the design of a new reporting and insights experience within the Accountant Console, transforming reporting from fragmented outputs into a centralized system of visibility and decision-making.

The Problem

The existing reporting experience was a major bottleneck for scaling firms:
Reports were slow, rigid, and required manual aggregation
Data was not actionable, limiting decision-making
Reports lacked presentation quality for client-facing use
Firms struggled to scale beyond ~25 clients due to operational complexity.

👉 This created a critical gap between executing workflows and understanding performance

Opportunity

Through research and partner feedback, I identified a clear opportunity to reposition reporting as a core strategic capability:
Centralized visibility across all clients.
Metrics for efficiency, anomalies, and staff productivity.
Seamless movement between aggregate and client-level views
Insights that drive action—not static reporting.

This positioned reporting as a key lever to increase the strategic value of the Accountant Console.
